HVCH CEO graduates from  Rural Hospital CEO Certification Program

Hocking Valley Community Hospital would like to congratulate President and CEO Stacey Gabriel who recently graduated from the National Rural Health Association Rural Hospital CEO Certification Program.  In an environment where hospital CEO turnover continues to be high, this program was developed by other successful rural hospital CEOs with the intent of assisting rural healthcare Chief Executive Officers to strengthen skills and create a pool of qualified candidates.

Course curriculum included building blocks on topics of Leadership, Operations, Finance and Clinical developed by other successful rural hospital CEOs.  Throughout the program participants were partnered with other rural hospital CEO mentors.

Statistics show that one out of three rural hospitals have been identified as “at risk,” and nearly half of rural hospitals are led by first time CEOs.  This program will help improve rural communities in America by stabilizing leadership through education and engagement with other successful CEOs.

“I was excited to learn about this opportunity,” said CEO Stacey Gabriel.  “As leaders, we want to ensure we are doing everything we can to the best of our ability.  Being part of this pioneer group has been a tremendous experience, and I have learned from colleagues across the nation.   Building these relationships will be valuable moving forward as we continue to navigate through rural healthcare waters.”

The mission of this study program is to improve life in rural America by stabilizing rural hospitals through this educational opportunity by assisting CEOs to achieve leadership excellence, thereby benefitting rural communities.

The first certification of its kind, Gabriel graduated from the program on Wednesday, October 7, 2020.
