HVCH enhances Chaplain Services Program

Hocking Valley Community Hospital is pleased to announce the enhancement of the Chaplain Services Program as part of the services to patients, their families and hospital staff.

The program operates under the supervision of the community relations and volunteer services office in cooperation with the social services and nursing care offices. Rev . Emory H. Clark, Lead Chaplain, works with various members of the hospital administrative team to continue to develop and coordinate the program.

“The purpose of the Chaplain Services Program is to provide spiritual and crisis care, and comfort support to patients and their families,” Rev. Clark said. “As the program progresses, it will be staffed entirely by local pastors. Chaplains will be available in the hospital for one to two hours approximately three days each week, and available on an on-call basis for situations that may arise at other times.”

Chaplains will assist in the holistic healthcare of hospital patients by assisting medical care staff with spiritual assessments, visiting with the patients and their families to offer encouragement and by serving as advocates for patient and family needs and concerns during their stay at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.  Additionally, the program is available to assist with patient families during trauma incidents or during the loss of a loved one
