Walsh retires from HVCH Board after three decades of service

Michael Walsh has retired from Hocking Valley Community Hospital Board after a 30-year tenure.

Walsh is a Logan native and a graduate of Logan High School. He furthered his education at Ohio University. After graduation, he worked as an engineer in Toledo for seven years. He returned home to Logan and held several positions within the community service sector. He served as mayor for eight years and further fostered his love of service and community by becoming a Hocking Valley Community Hospital board member.

“Every time I see someone using the hospital, it makes me feel good. People in the community don’t have to go far for great service,” Walsh said.

Hocking Valley Community Hospital has served five generations of the Walsh family. Walsh takes pride in the hospital and the work the board has done over the years. “I did everything I could to provide a good work environment for the doctors, nurses, and staff at the hospital,” he said.

A lot has changed over the past 30 years, Walsh said. The change in technology caught him by surprise. “It was hard to get a grasp on that. But I was happy to see the hospital adapt quickly.”

To anyone thinking about serving their community on a board like the one at Hocking Valley Community Hospital, Walsh offers this advice: “don’t be afraid to ask questions.”
